A gorgeously attired dancer and musicians, who have been summoned by Queen Sivali to distract the king from his resolve.
This story is depicted in 1500 year old caves in Ajanta. This complete orchestra and dancer are all women.
There are playing flutes, cymbals, drums (dhol) etc. all these musical instruments, practically unchanged, remain in use in India. The painting closely follows the directions laid down in the ancient Indian treaties of painting. Dance is bedecked with large verity of ornaments like thumb ring, ear rings, pearl strings, strings of flowers in hair, ornaments of the head.
The pose caught of the dancer is most interesting and still used in Indian dance movements today, and serves to show that these traditions were already well established more than 1500 years ago.

Buddha in Kapilavastu

  The scene From Ajanta cave depicts Buddha’s return to his birth-place Kapilavastu after his Enlightenment, when his wife Yasodhara and son Rahula meet him at the palace-gate. Rahula looks up adoringly at his father and Yashodhara has bedecked herself profusely with jewellery to induce her husband to stay with her.
Yashodhara has tutored the child to ask Him for his rightful inheritance, being born the son of a prince, but the Buddha says he has only his begging bowl to offer, Buddha gives Rahula his begging-bowl and admits him to the Order.
Owing to his spiritual importance, the Buddha is depicted here as a much larger figure, towering over Yashodhara and Rahula.

Miracle of Sravasti

Buddha promised to perform a miracle under a mango tree in Sravasti on a full moon day. His detractors uprooted all the mango trees to prevent him but he was unfazed. On the promised day he went to the king’s garden, ate a mango and planted the seed from which a tree sprouted and flowered immediately.
This painting represents the Miracle at Sravasti, Wherein Buddha multiplied himself to the bewilderment of his critics.
This Scene is depicted in Ajanta cave-7, consisting of monotonously reproduced figures of Buddha in various mudras.
